Bubbles!

Ugh. That's all I have for this week.

Madeline had pink eye.

Isabelle had a stomach virus.

They both shared a little cold with it all.

We prayed over the girls, all day. For everything to pass quickly. And for nothing to be passed in the house. For healing, strength, comfort that only He can give.

I held back her hair and cried with her. All day. Complete heartbreak.

Madeline had to be held down for her eye drops. Pinning down a feisty two year old by yourself is not easy.  And also heartbreaking.

I can't complain too much. I have plenty to be thankful for.

Nothing was passed around the house. No one else caught the stomach bug & Madeline was the only one with pink eye. That's amazing!

A friend had eye drops for pink eye. Saving us a doctor's visit and the money for drops. (They can be expensive.)

Isabelle's virus only lasted one day. She was almost back to 100% the next day! She couldn't hold down a drop of water, got sick at least 8 times & ran a fever of 102. You can imagine, to see her feeling so well the next day was pretty exciting!

Did I mention that no one else in our house caught her stomach bug???

Praise the Lord for His goodness!

Once Isabelle started feeling better, we grabbed some bubbles and headed outside for some fresh air. It was so beautiful! I knew they would have tons of energy. Being inside all day, sick & on the couch, isn't fun for anyone.

I grabbed my camera, knowing there were some cute pictures coming!

Madeline enjoyed playing with one of her birthday presents. A bubble-blowing lawn mower. She pushed that thing all over our yard.

Then we broke out the bubble wand! There were bubbles everywhere! :)

It was so nice seeing that joy in her face!

Madeline was in control of the wand. She didn't want to pop the bubbles. Isabelle loved popping the bubbles and chasing after them! They made a great team. :)

I had so much fun watching them play together. It was a perfect cure to our mini case of "cabin fever."

Madeline became a little attached to the bubble wand. She didn't want to share with her big sister. We had to have a time-out on the steps. :)

Once our bubbles were gone, we took everything back inside. It was still so nice out so we decided to go on a walk. As soon as we got across the street, we heard to ice cream truck. :) I saw it coming to our street, so I picked up Madeline, grabbed Isabelle's hand & told her to run! We ran across the street (looking both ways!) as fast as we could to my purse. Grabbed some cash and ran back outside, just in time to meet the ice cream truck. The girls stood at the end of the drive, shaking their hips to the tropical music blaring from the truck. It was quite a sight, they had the driver laughing so hard! We got two Dora creamsicles, with the gumball eyes. They were so yummy! We sat in the middle of the drive way, enjoying our snack. The sun was setting, so we started back on our walk. Only walking a few houses down, then back across the neighbors yard.

After a day of horrible sickness, this was just what we needed. I'm so thankful for His love & for giving us exactly what we need. :)

Isabelle & Dawson

I completely forgot to tell y'all about a fun dinner we had after Isabelle's birthday party. We headed over to a new Mexican restaurant in town with our cousins, the Carnes. Our kids always love getting together! Isabelle and Dawson were pretty close buddies that night. I caught some of the sweetest pictures on my phone! Had to share one of them. :) I'm so thankful these kids will be growing up together! I love this family so much.

Exciting News!

I almost hate to write this post. Sometimes, I get ahead of myself. I get too excited and then everything falls apart. However, I really feel good about this! And I don't think things will "fall apart" because we're so far into it. We may fall back a few steps, but things are progressing so well. I feel very comfortable in saying this.

Isabelle is at least 75% over sucking her thumb!!!!!!!!!

Maybe even more than that. I am being a little careful. :)

In the past week, she's done it maybe once at night time. The other nights, she's going all night & keeping it out of her mouth. It's completely dry in the mornings! The skin on her thumb is even starting to look normal again. Nice & smooth...

She still can't stop at nap time. In fact, she's been skipping her naps because she says it's too hard on her. It's been days since she's taken a nap and I think it's finally starting to catch up with her. She was so tired and upset tonight! Before we started on this mission of "No more thumb," she took 2-3 hour naps, every day. I know she's getting old enough to not need naps, and I also know there are kids her age and younger who have already grown out of naps. I just don't think that she can go from taking such long naps to not taking any is such a short amount of time. So, please pray for her!

Once she has completely, 100% stopped sucking her thumb we are buying her a fancy Ariel princess dress! She picked it out on her own and loves it. She knows that the only way to get that dress is to completely stop! She's done so very well so far. I'm so proud of that little girl! She's so excited when she wakes up and her thumb is dry. She runs into our room with her thumbs sticking out to show us. She is so proud of herself!

Please, continue to pray for her! She's almost there :)

Birthday Party Weekend

We are so thankful for this little girl. This gift from God. She is a beautiful, sweet, kind, tender hearted little-big girl.

We celebrated her big 4th birthday over the weekend. (4? Already??) She had been so excited for her ballerina party! Even more excited that she was getting to share the day with one of her best friends, Skyler. Their birthdays are only a few days apart and they attend the same ballet class. It worked out perfectly! I was really excited to work on this party with Skyler's mom, Christi. She's one of my good friends & I knew we would have a blast! She is a little (a lot, really) more creative than I am. This party turned out so cute!! We also had a lot of help from her super creative sister, Carla!

But before the party, we celebrated with a 'birthday party day gift.' Just something small, play jewelry & a Hello Kitty sticker book. If you have talked to Isabelle in the last few weeks, you know that she loves Hello Kitty. In fact, just the day before her party, she was asked what she wanted for her birthday. She said, "Hello Kitty."

After spending some time together, I left the house to get all the last minute things done. Thankfully, we had already finished most of the items on our To-Do list. It felt good to not be running around town like a chicken with my head cut off.

With a lot (I mean, a lot.) of help from my husband, we arrived with everything we needed for the party. We quickly set things up. Balloons. Food. Table cloths on the floor for the kids to eat on. Cake. Presents neatly stacked. Tutu's hung on display.

All of Isabelle & Skyler's friends walked in, excited! There was play jewelry to play dress up with, plenty of tutu's. All the girls were so precious, and the birthday girls were so excited to show off their dance class!

Once everyone arrived, we started the dance class. When Grandma arrived, Isabelle stepped aside just to give her a hug. I thought it was so sweet!! She loves her "Grammy" so much.

Mrs. Denise told stories of princesses. After each story, they would get up and do a special dance.

Isabelle was so excited that one of her best friends from school, Rachel, was able to make it! She talks about her all the time & loves her very much!

After some dancing & music, Mrs. Denise rolled out the dress up outfits. You can imagine how excited these little girls were!! It was the highlight of the party!

They danced & danced & danced. The last song was slow. Isabelle found her Daddy. :) This is my favorite picture from the entire day!

Dress up time ended, the class was over. The girls got back in their tutu's and it was time to eat some lunch. And sing happy birthday to those sweet 4 year olds. :)

We watched as they opened presents. Which didn't go as smooth as I had hoped. It got a little chaotic! But it was fun. They both got some great gifts from some great friends!

The party was a success! All the girls had fun, we had a great teacher, the parents loved it, and I was able to do something fun with my friend, Christi, before she moved. Shortly after we agree to plan a party together, she was asked to take a job about an hour and a half from here. It breaks my heart that they no longer live here. We have gotten so close to their family & love them so much. Thankfully, they're not too far and we can go visit. And we definitely plan on visiting a lot this summer!

Isabelle celebrated her birthday on Monday. She woke up to presents and breakfast by Daddy. It was her first day back to school after spring break and she was ready to get back! Jared & I picked up doughnuts & Krispy Kreme hats and took them to her class for snack time. They all sang happy birthday to her and she got to blow out a candle!

After school, she said she wanted to play at Chick-fil-a so we headed on over there. Enjoyed lunch and a cup of ice cream.

She was also able to get a new big girl car seat! She's so excited that she gets to use the "car seat belt." And she looks so grown up!! Madeline really loves the new upgrade, because now Madeline gets Isabelle's old car seat. And that is so cool to her!

We finished her big day with dinner at Logan's, or as she calls it: "The Restaurant with the peanuts on the floor."

She had a great day! We had so much fun celebrating. Thanks to all of our friends & family for all of your calls, texts & facebook comments. She loved talking to everyone and hearing all of your comments!

Happy 4th Birthday!

Happy 4th birthday to our sweet, darling Isabelle!!

We are so thankful for her & love her just the way God made her, perfect in His image!

First Haircut!

Next week, she will be turning 4. (Where is time going???) On her 2nd birthday, she had hardly any hair! Since then, it's grown slowly. I've never had it in me to cut it.

But it has reached its limit. The ends of her hair are so thin, they get tangles easily. It's always in her face. And the hair on the back of her head is so much longer than the hair in the front. So today, as a pre-birthday celebration, we went to Mommy's hair salon.

Here are some before pictures!

With her new haircut, the biggest difference is the back. It's so much shorter!

I was pretty worried about how she would react. She's a little tender-hearted and shy. And has a hard time trying new things. She had to wear a 'cape' and sit on a booster. On our way to the salon, she told me that she might be a little bit frightened. After telling her there was nothing to be scared of because Mommy & Daddy get haircuts all time, she seemed to calm down. She was starting to get excited.

We got there, she went straight up to Mrs. Amy & said hello. She seemed a little shy and hesitant, but after Amy offered a lollipop, it was smooth sailing! Isabelle barely moved the entire time she was in that seat.

Here is the finished product! Doesn't she look beautiful?! My favorite part is the bangs!

Amy was so nice and saved some of the clippings for me. She did such a great job! I love Isabelle's new haircut. She looks like such a big girl! We were so excited to show it off. We headed down the street to Grandma's work. Thankfully she had a few minutes to step out side. She showered Isabelle with love and told her how beautiful she was!

Madeline didn't have a new haircut to show off, but she was excited about showing off her new "dress." :)

We ran to the mall to pick up a few things and to show Uncle Justin her new haircut. She kept pointing to her head and saying, "Haircut!"

And we were so thankful that Daddy was home to join us today! It was so nice having him there for this special day!

Today

This morning, Isabelle woke up earlier than Madeline. She walked into the kitchen with her hand behind her back. A clear indicator that she sucked her thumb last night. She is really having a hard time trying to quit. Jared and I both took turns last night, laying with her. Telling her stories, singing to her, praying with her. Anything to get her asleep without sucking on that thumb. This morning it was as wrinkled as a raisin, hiding behind her back, in hopes we wouldn't see it. We felt so bad for her... We'll try again tonight. Praying for us, for her!

We heard Madeline starting to wake up over her monitor. Isabelle jumped up and said, "Can I get her, Mommy??" She runs across the house, slowly opens her sisters room and I can hear her walk over to her bed. "Rise & shine, and give God the Glory, glory." She sings softly, preciously. "Good morning, my Maddie girl!" I love that she calls her Maddie-girl. And I love hearing our house filled with early morning praises to our God! What a wonderful way to start our day! It's a memory that will always stay with me.

After a little morning Spring cleaning, we headed to a play date with some of our best friends. We always enjoy getting to see our friends!

We came home, enjoyed lunch & a little ice cream. Isabelle asked if she could play dress up so I pulled out my camera. I pretty much wrote this blog post just to share these photos. :) I love having little girls! Life is so sweet & I'm always so very thankful. I really wish I could have talked Madeline into dressing up! She was busy coloring. :)

Back to Normal

There have been so many exciting things going on lately, I'm not sure where to start!

Let's start with something that is not so exciting. Last week, both girls came down with strep throat. (Worst ever!) Isabelle struggled with it more than Madeline did. She was throwing up, her fever got up to 104 a few times. It was just nasty. Madeline slept. A lot. And if she was awake, she was laying down. Thankfully, she wasn't throwing up as well. I don't know what I would've done! They were sick for 4 very long days. We stayed home, only leaving to see the doctor and get medicine. One day I took them for a ride. It was so beautiful outside and I wanted them to get a little fresh air.

Once we got back to reality, we took is slow. School, ballet and church. No running around town, no play dates. Just took it easy for a few days, making sure they were 100%. Then we hit the ground running.

Isabelle got a bedroom makeover! She upgraded to a twin bed and we rearranged her room. A big girl room :)

Madeline also upgraded! She is no longer sleeping in her precious crib... She has taken over Isabelle's toddler bed. It feels weird not having a crib being used in the house. Might have to change that soon... :)

We are getting excited about Easter! We're doing an Easter countdown this week. Reading stories of Jesus, learning about his last week here on Earth. We've also made some pretty yummy treats. Peep S'mores were a huge hit :)

We enjoyed going back to church! I help out with their Wednesday night class & love it! We learned about Mary washing Jesus' feet with her expensive perfume. They washed each others feet, learning about love & serving others. Then we put on some smell good lotion as an example for perfume.

A storm came through our backyard the other day. I'm thankful I looked outside at the perfect time to see this... He shows us His beauty, His love. In the middle of a storm, He is right there. It took my breath away!

The girls made it back to school in time for school pictures. Can't wait to get these on my walls!!

We went to Kids Fest 2012 in Greenville this past Saturday. The girls had a lot of fun! There were tons of things for them to do. And we had a few of our friends with us, the Carnes & Barnhill families. However, I was happy when it was over. I'm not sure that we'll go next year. It was just way too crazy & crowded! I was scared of losing the girls the entire time I was there, and that made it hard to enjoy. I was so thankful to have friends with us. The girls stuck close to them and I had a few extra sets of eyes! One of my favorite parts was the gymnastics "booth." Madeline had a BLAST! She did all the obstacles by herself, not falling once. She did the balance beam at least 5 times! And what a great way to get her energy out! She will definitely be in gymnastics soon.

Another favorite part was at the very end. The inflatables. :)

We finished our day at Chic-fil-a with our friends and a visit to Grandma & Papa's house.

It feels good to be back to normal :)
